INTRALOT supported the international one day meeting on “Sports as a dynamic industry of the new economy” which was organized by the Kokkalis Foundation and took place on the 23rd of September, 2002 in Athens. The event coincided with the celebration of INTRALOT’ s 10th anniversary as a leading cooperation in the gaming industry.

For celebrating this anniversary, INTRALOT has decided to donate to the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Greece a special tailor-made report published by the Kokkalis Foundation in cooperation with IOBE, the Greek Institute of Economic and Industrial Research, on the economic impact of sports. The study stresses that sports, apart from a physical activity and entertainment, are a dynamic and expanding industry with a significant contribution to economic growth.

The Kokkalis Foundation’s BOD member Mr. Petros Kokkalis handed in the research to Minister of Culture Mr. Evangelos Venizelos, who was the main speaker at the event. Among the speakers were the Development Minister Mr. Akis Tsochatzopoulos and the Undersecretary of State for Sports Mr. Giorgos Lianis from Greece as well as the President of WLA Mr. Reidar Nordby Jr. and the Vice President of CIBELAE Mr. Sergio Henriquez Diaz from the lottery industry. Ambassadors, official state representatives and lottery directors from Europe attended the meeting.

It’s worth mentioning that all the speakers and especially the President of WLA Mr. R. Nordby Jr., emphasized on the lottery’s contribution to the development of international economy, as well as to the good causes and especially to sports.
